Some Guidelines for Filming in a Pandemic

It's the first big project post-Corona and first time managing a large socially-distanced crew. I learnt a lot, including the following guide for my future pandemic shooting:

  1. Less crew, less subjects, (a lot) more time.

  2. 35mm lens or more. Keep distance.

  3. Big ol' monitor = no need to crowd round it.

  4. Remember that sterilizing lav mics wasn't fun. Shotgun mics are the future.

  5. Even the comfiest mask hurts after the 4 hour point. Switch between different ones.

And generally:

  1. Socialising 12 hours/ day is hard now.
